The best thing about summer and summer holidays to me, is when you get to stay outdoors late - even on weekdays - and simply enjoy life. It doesn`t necessarily have to be a party or music festival. There are so many other choices to make a simple summer night memorable, especially if you are on a budget.
...in your own garden. Invite your friends for a sleepover but re-place your bed/livingroom to a tent and your house to the garden (if it`s big enough). All you`ll need is: drinks, snacks, torch, mattresses, pillows and lots of blankets to keep you warm and let the fun begin! Just make sure you lock your dog away for the night. You don`t want to run out of the tent screaming in the middle of the night and thinking there are real monsters out there when it`s only the pet wanting to be part of the sleepover; like it happened to me the first time I had at-home-camping.
Oh, Dean...things in the closet aren`t always skeletons.
You and your friend are planning your meeting but none of you feels like like partying or staying at home. Okay, I get it. Everyone has days like that. It`s a perfect occasion to sit on the balcony of a restaurant in the heart of your town and watch people go by while wonder where are they coming from/going to or what do they do for a living, etc. Eating great food and sipping a glass (or more) of tasty wine is just a bonus. Everyone has got their own story and it`s interesting to wonder about others` once in a while.
Take A Walk in Your Town
I wouldn`t recommend doing this alone or visiting the worst areas but exploring the town you`re living in or being there on holiday is a way different experience at night than doing the same thing during the day. A hot summer night after the people watch at the restaurant is a perfect opportunity for this activity. Personally, I love walking around cities late at night. It`s quiet and there are no tourists around. The city lights give a great opportunity to take photos too if you`re into photography.
I did a night walk in Paris during my visit and it was magnificent.
Make A Campfire
When to make a campfire if not in summer? Whether you combine it with camping or do it on its own as a barbeque, watching the fire and listening to the silence of the night can be very relaxing after an exhausting day. If you are musical and invite your friends you can also have a singalong while one of you is playing the guitar...I think the perfect place to do it is either on the beach or by a lake.
You don`t even have to audition to Camp Rock to have the kind of singalong with your friends...although the Jonas Brothers won`t be there either. Soz I couldn`t find the gif I wanted for this.
Night at the Museum
There are plenty of museums, adventure parks, castles (if you live in Europe) or other public/cultural places that have longer opening hours with special events during the summer. If you have ever wanted to take a night visit to these places - for example then now it`s the perfect time to do it. Look it up if your favourite place have this option, book your visit and have an awesome time - or spooky...
Who knows, you might run into this guy at one of the castles.
I hope this post helped you to organize great night outs this summer or to come up with your own ideas. If none of the above, you can still accept his invite...
What is a perfect summer night activity for you?
